Most people still think of Krisp as “the noise cancellation app.” I used to be one of them. That’s the mistake most reviews still make.

Krisp has quietly become a full AI meeting assistant - transcription, summaries, action items, recording, AI chat, CRM sync, workspaces - while everyone was still talking about its audio quality. The noise cancellation is still the best on the market, but it’s now one feature among many, not the entire product.

If you evaluated Krisp two years ago, try it again now. It’s a different tool.

What Krisp Does

Krisp works differently than most meeting assistants. It doesn’t join your calls as a bot. Instead, it sits between your microphone and your conferencing app and processes your audio before it reaches the call - both for others and for your own recording.

The core product has two sides. The first is noise cancellation, which is truly best-in-class. I’ve tested Krisp alongside Otter, Fireflies, and a half-dozen native conferencing options. Krisp consistently removes keyboard typing, dog barks, and background chatter while keeping voice clarity intact. This isn’t just marketing - it’s measurable.

The second side is the AI meeting assistant features. You get transcription in 17 languages, AI-generated summaries with action items, and an “Ask Krisp” chat interface that lets you query your meeting history. You can also record audio and video directly through Krisp, and it works with any conferencing app - not just Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams, but also WebEx, GoToMeeting, and dozens of others.

The most unique feature is accent conversion. Krisp can transform your spoken English into accent-neutral versions optimized for listeners in different regions. If your team includes speakers with LatAm, Indian, Filipino, or South African English accents who regularly present to clients with different backgrounds, this is actually useful. Nobody else in this space offers anything similar.

There’s also a separate Call Center AI product that handles agent-side noise cancellation, voice translation, live captions, and knowledge base chat for support teams. It’s a different market segment, but worth noting if you’re building a support stack.

There’s no free tier. Krisp offers a 7-day free trial with all features, no credit card required. That’s better than nothing, but it means you can’t use Krisp permanently without paying. (They all do this annual billing trick. It’s annoying.)

Who Should Use Krisp

If you’re working from home with actual background noise - not a perfect home office - Krisp’s noise cancellation alone justifies the price. I’m picky about this because I’ve been on calls where someone’s keyboard typing dominated the entire conversation. Krisp fixes that in a way that alternatives don’t match.

The bot-free recording is the second big differentiator. Many people hate seeing “Krisp Notetaker has joined” in their meeting invites. It changes the social dynamics of the call. With Krisp, you record your own audio without anyone knowing, which matters for therapists, coaches, and anyone in sensitive conversations.

The accent conversion feature is truly unique. If you have team members whose accents create friction with clients or prospects - and this is a real business problem - Krisp solves it in a way no competitor can.

Who Should NOT Use Krisp

Sales teams that need conversation intelligence and coaching should look elsewhere. Krisp doesn’t offer the deep call analysis, competitor tracking, or coaching features that tools like Gong or Avoma specialize in. You’re not going to get deal intelligence from Krisp.

Teams that need 100+ language support should pick Fireflies (100+) or MeetGeek (60+). Krisp’s 17 languages will be a hard limit for many international organizations.

If you absolutely need a permanent free tier, use Fathom or tl;dv instead. Krisp’s trial ends after 7 days, and then you’re paying.

Developers wanting a public API for custom integrations should also look elsewhere. Krisp offers webhooks and Zapier, but no public REST API. Fireflies and MeetGeek both have public APIs.
